White Wine Tasting Notes

Rose, Sonoma Mt., Janian Vineyard 2009 Esterlina
Price: $18.00
Quantity in Basket: none

Another wine made from organic grapes (as we promised), this Rose is a bit darker than our previous vintages, but it is a very light, refreshing, fruit-forward wine. Full of berry aromas and flavors, this Syrah Rose will be a perfect companion throughout the year, whether it is served this spring and summer with light fare (or by itself with a bit of warm sun), or around the holidays.

Rose, 2009 Sonoma Mt., Janian Vineyard - 248 cases produced.
Price: $18.00

2008 Sauvignon Blanc (McDowell Valley)
Price: $18.00
Quantity in Basket: none

When we acquired Everett Ridge, we decided to stop making Sauvignon Blanc under the Esterlina label—even though each label made that wine from different vineyards and appellations. Apparently, our customers missed that wine, because we received numerous inquires and requests for more. We heard you—loud and clear. The 2008 Sauvignon Blanc is full of grassy, citrus and tropical fruit aromas. It also has lots of lemon, grapefruit and bright green apple flavors. Try it with sushi or with lemon-oregano chicken pasta.
2008 Sauvignon Blanc (McDowell Valley)

Chardonnay, 2007 Russian River Valley
Price: $25.00
Quantity in Basket: none

Esterlina's 2007 Chardonnay has something for every fan of this varietal. It starts with tropical scents-pineapple, lime, and a light floral hint. The mouth has more tropical flavors, and a silkiness that is very appealing and very drinkable. Try it with a light pasta, or grilled ahi.

Chardonnay, Russian River Valley 2007
Price: $25.00 ($20 Wine Club)

2008 Cole Ranch DRY Riesling
Price: $19.00
Quantity in Basket: none

You get to experience lots of complex flavors and aromas with the 2008 Dry Riesling. Steely mineral characteristics, rose petals, pear, petroleum (a classic Riesling scent) and lime are present in the nose. Lots of citrus, apple and stone fruit flavors, are part of the experience, too. As always, the acidity is bracing, but not overwhelming. It you like elegant, dry white wines, this will appeal to you. 586 cases produced.

2008 Cole Ranch DRY Riesling
$19/bottle ($15.20 Wine Club)

2008 Late Harvest Riesling, Cole Ranch
Price: $28.00
Quantity in Basket: none

In its late harvest form, our Riesling has the ever-present peach, lemon, floral and vanilla flavors. Notwithstanding the extra residual sugar, you really do notice the wine’s rich complexity, with a bit of melon on the nose, and rich candied fruit in the finish. If we may make one recommendation for serving: try not to over-chill this wine. The flavors are so vivid when it is served just slightly cooled or at room temperature. For dessert, try it with a vanilla-bean crème brulee. With an appetizer, pair it with spring rolls and sweet-spicy dipping sauce.
